My Weeks 2014 – Week 2

I have been so busy that none of my craft projects are up to date.  I’ve been too creating memories to record them, but I’ll get there.

One thing that is up-to-date and HAS to be, especially at the moment, is my Filofax.  So without further ado, here is Week 2.

This week was a lesson in pre-decorating pages. I hated looking at this week, because I had decorated it along with last week’s layout.  This meant I had been flipping to it for two weeks and was already sick of seeing it.  So I made sure not to decorate the following week until I was ready for that week!

The side to-do list is still working absolutely perfectly.  No wasted space on the page, and also it is easier to sort between the time-sensitive tasks as well as the others.  Love, love, love this layout!  There is only one thing I am going to tweak next time I need to print, and that is to remove the “week of” font at the very top of the page.  Because I have been covering it up with washi tape every single week anyway.

So, like I said I am behind in my craft projects.  I haven’t done my 365 Journal since Friday, and although I am up to date on my Project Life, I need to print last week’s photos and put them in before I post it up for you all to see.

Hopefully by the next time you hear from me, I am all caught up with lots to share!

365 Journal 2014 – Day #9

It was so ironic that Mr Wright and I were talking about childhood memories this afternoon and then I saw that today’s journal prompt was to write about a childhood memory!

Write about a childhood memory. Write everything you remember about it. When it was, where it was, how old you were. Write down who was there with you, how you felt, why you think you can remember it… If you have a photo you used as a prompt you can include that too. Or you can draw a part of the memory. For instance, a particular toy or some clothes that you remember vividly

There are plenty of options I could have chosen from, for example the horrible matching knitted jerseys my Mum made my sister and I wear for a portrait. Urgh. But here’s what I chose:

Lesson learnt!

365 Journal Day #8

Today’s prompt was really easy, and super fun!

Write the word LOVE in the centre of the page. Then from this, like a brainstorm, draw branches coming from the centre word and record all the words you can think of that come to mind. Don’t be inhibited – write whatever springs into your thoughts. You can even draw in little hearts and gorgeous things that inspire you when you think of love…

So here’s my page

365 Journal 2014 – Day #7 (A day off)

I’m having a day off from my 365 Journal today, but I am leaving the prompt anyway incase anybody needs it:

Take your journal to the park. Sit down under a tree and write what you see, hear, smell and feel – both physically and emotionally. You can decorate however you like. Draw little leaves, press in a flower…

Not only did it rain all afternoon, I did not have time for a visit to the park today.  I worked till 3pm.  Then I got my car registration sorted as well as the fortnight’s grocery shop.  I came home long enough to unpack the groceries, and then left again to go on the treadmill at my Mum’s.  I then came back home and posted the three posts I was supposed to get up over the last couple of days.  So, no time for a visit to the park.

I’m not too fussed though, I have got A LOT accomplished today including making a final payment on one of my outstanding debts.  Couldn’t be happier right now!

Project Life 2014 – Week 1

This week I worked on my scrapbook a little bit each day instead of trying to fit it all in on the weekend.  I liked this way of doing it, it was fun keeping record of each day, and also very quick to do at the end of the night!

I had heaps of fun experimenting different ways of decorating each card. This week while out and about, I found myself automatically putting things (receipt and Rekorderlig label) in my bag to include in my Project Life!

365 Journal 2014 – Day #6

I didn’t think I would end up doing my journal page yesterday.  I was so tired, had the worst sleep of my life the night before.  Regardless, I was just settling down before bed and decided to pick up my Filofax and make a start on the prompt for which was:

Draw something today, anything you like. It doesn’t matter if you don’t think you’re good at drawing. It can be a a self portrait, a stick figure, a mess of lines or a detailed masterpiece of your pet! Just draw whatever is on your mind. If you drew it in black or lead pencil, add a splash of colour somewhere. You can add in different materials, shapes and fun embellishments like sequins or glitter, or keep it simple and stylish. Just make sure you have fun.

I ended up finishing and before I knew it, it had turned into a masterpiece with a little inspiration in there too….

Unfortunately I didn’t get around to posting it last night which is the same for a few posts I was supposed to put up.   So here it is!

My Weeks 2014 – Week 1

Well I got a bit slack at posting my weeks last year, but I’m back on track now so lets have a look at my first week of 2014 in my brand new Filofax!

IMG_8564

This was my last week on holiday, so the checklists weren’t that full.  I decorated this week with some pink patterned Rosie’s Studio washi tape, and coloured the day names in pink to match.  Then I accented with some La-De-Dah washi tape, a K&Company tag, 2 pretty sticky tags and one of the stickers out of my Studiogirl Love & Friendship Sticker Flip Book.  All of those items I got from Warehouse Stationary (apart from the K&Company tag, I’ve had those tags for years).

Really really loving my new layouts, they are working perfectly!!!

5 on the 5th – January 2014

Monika over at iloveitall came up with this cool concept to take 5 pictures and instagram them on the 5th of every month.  To capture everyday life in it’s finest.  I tried to participate last month and failed.  Forgot to take photos throughout the day.  This month however, I was successful.  And here they are…

Image

1/The first pic was snapped when I caught my Mr Wright writing himself a list with one of my pretty sticky notes.  I was so excited that he had caught a bit of the planning bug off me, and had to share this immediately!

Image

2/The next pic was snapped while I was happily playing on my new game that Mr Wright bought for me.  I’ve been so spoilt over the past few days, a sparkling new gold 3DSXL and THREE games.

Image

3/This one here is my 365 Journal entry for the day.

Image

4/The fourth was snapped when my kids came home from their dads.  My son was immediately on the playstation and he had such a “boy” look about him, I had to get a photo of it.

Image

5/Probably my favourite out of the 5 photos this month.  Rocky (my Chihuahua-Papillon) has a thing about sulking under the couch or under the bed when he gets told off.  I was hanging off the side of the couch with my camera ready waiting for him to look at me so I could snap a shot of him.  I didn’t even care that the flash messed with his eyes, it gives it a bit of a spooky element I think.

That’s all for this month, go check out Monika’s blog if you want to see her posts, her blog is one of my favourites!!  And if you want to watch as next month’s #5onthe5th unfolds, follow me on instagram @myorganizedmayhem.

365 Journal 2014 – Day #5

My hand is really sore from doing today’s journal page! The prompt was

Write a page in stream of consciousness. That means simply put your pen to paper, pick a word or a thought, and start writing. Don’t stop writing or take your pen off the page until you reach the end of the page. It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t make sense, just let your thoughts continue and your pen keep notating them. Read it afterwards. What subjects or themes did you thoughts keep returning to? Take note and even if you can’t think of their significance at that moment, it might offer an insight when you return to that page further down your journaling project.

So here it is. I’ve blurred it out, not coz there was anything scandalous in there, just coz it’s full of random thoughts that are kinda personal. Gotta keep some things to myself right?

I also used this as one of my #5onthe5th pics. I’ll post the rest of those later on once I’ve put them all on Instagram.

Get Organized – My Housework Schedule

I’ve been meaning to write this post for a while, and while my amazing Mr.Wright and I are spending a lazy day at home without the kids, I thought I might as well take the time to write it now!

You may have noticed from my “My Week” posts that I schedule in my housework.  I don’t schedule it all, but there are certain things noted on my daily pages and also in my monthly calendar.

You may or may not have seen this system posted around the web, or on Pinterest (Which is where I found it). But regardless, I am going to do a quick run down on how it works.

So, I first of all wrote down a list of every job I need to get done within a month.  I then split the list into three categories: Daily, Weekly and Fortnightly.

Here’s what they look like:

Daily
Tidy Kitchen
Tidy Lounge
Wipe Down Bathroom
Washing

Weekly
Vacuum
Change Sheets/Duvets
Deep-clean Bathroom/Toilet

Monthly
Clean Car
Wipe Down Surfaces/Walls
Clean Oven/Jug/Microwave
Declutter

After I have my lists sorted, I then start scheduling.  All the daily jobs are done daily so I don’t need to write them down (although you can to start off with while you are committing them to memory.) I then pick one weekly task for every day of the week except Thursdays.  Like this:
Monday: Vacuum
Tuesday: Deep-clean Bathroom/Toilet
Wednesday: Sheets/Duvets (alternating weeks)
Thursday:
Friday: Vacuum
Note I don’t schedule things for the weekends as we are generally pretty busy doing family things on the weekends.

The last thing to do is fill up that blank Thursday.  This is known as the “Swing Day” and changes depending on what week of the month it is.  This is when I do my monthly tasks.  So I break them up and schedule them into my calendar like this:
1st Thursday: Clean Oven/Jug/Microwave
2nd Thursday: Clean Car
3rd Thursday: De-Clutter
4th Thursday: Wipe Down Surfaces/Walls
If there are 5 Thursdays in a month then there is a sweet free day off.

Although with my system it’s Thursdays for the Swing Days, I am thinking of changing it to Monday’s next month.  Monday is the day I am most motivated, and I am normally more booked with afternoon nail clients towards the end of the week meaning I quite often don’t get my monthly tasks done.  Regardless, having it scheduled gets the big tasks off my brain.

This is a very basic housework list.  There are a lot of things I haven’t included that I do naturally and don’t need to remember, or schedule to get them done.  I have also not included any of the outside stuff that my partner takes care of (he does the whole outside, mow the lawns, water the gardens etc).

Doing my housework with this system splits the things I have to do equally meaning I am not spending my life doing my housework.  I spend a little time every day and that’s it.

Do you have a housework schedule?  How do you manage a sometimes never-ending chore list?  Would you give something like this a try?
Let me know in the comments below.
